POLICE have revealed the name of a man who was killed after being struck by a car in Kilwinning while he was walking his dog.
George Dale, 79, was struck by a Mazda 3 on Old Glasgow Road in the town at around 6am on Monday, October 23.
Police say the dog also died in the crash.
Emergency servicees attended and Mr Dale was taken to hospital, where he died.
His family has been notified.
The road was closed for several hours to allow crash scene investigators to conduct enquiries at the location.
Sergeant Martin Cunningham from Police Scotland said: “Our thoughts are very much with George’s family and friends at this time, and we ask that their privacy is respected.
“We are in the process of establishing the full circumstances of what happened and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch with us.
“If you have dash cam equipment or any other recording equipment, please check the images as the footage could assist our ongoing investigation.”
