A NEW cafe and takeaway could soon be set for Saltcoats town centre after a planning application was brought to the council.
The eatery would look to offer Mediterranean cuisine with "a dash of local flavour" to offer "a unique culinary experience for the community".
The application, which was brought to the council this week, refers to changing the use of part of a unit on the town's Bradshaw Street.
Number 12 - which is next door to the Motherland Spice - is currently occupied by a barber's shop, which would remain within the premises, as well as a section offering "male grooming products".
It is the section in which these products are currently offered which is to be converted to form the new cafe and takeaway, which would offer hot and cold food to be eaten onsite or elsewhere.
The two sections of the premises would be entered via different doors.
As North Ayrshire Council planning bosses mull over the application, applicant Layak Karimi has looked to emphasise the benefits this proposed business would bring.
Documents supporting the application state that the premises would be open from 7am-11pm offering breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A total of 12 jobs would be created for individuals, which Mr Karimi states would "contribute to the growth and economic development of the area".
In reference to the business itself, a planning statement adds: "The proposed hot and cold food takeaway establishment aims to offer Mediterranean cuisine with a dash of local flavours, catering to the diverse tastes and preferences of the local community.
"Our menu will include a variety of dishes prepared with fresh ingredients, providing a convenient and flavourful dining option for residents and visitors alike.
"We firmly believe that the proposed hot food takeaway will be a valuable addition to the area. The Mediterranean-inspired menu, combined with local influences, will provide a unique culinary experience for the community.
"The establishment will contribute to the vibrancy of the local business scene, enhancing the area's appeal and providing residents with increased dining options."
The application is currently pending consideration, and can be viewed in full online via the council's online planning portal searching for reference 23/00806/PP.
