A MAN has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Kilwinning.
The person hit by the vehicle - a 63-year-old-man - was taken to hospital in Glasgow following the incident on Lauchlan Way in the town on Saturday, November 17.
Police confirmed a part closure of the busy Kilwinning road, between the traffic lights at Howgate and the junction with Garnock View, following the collision.
The road re-opened later that night.
Officers are now looking to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident as they launch their enquiries into the crash.
No further update has been provided on the condition of the man who was taken to hospital.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.20pm on Saturday, November 18, 2023 police were called to a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Lauchlan Way in Kilwinning.
“Emergency services attended and a 63-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance.
"A 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with road traffic offences.
“Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.”
