AN IRVINE woman is set to stand trial after denying accusation she tried to attack staff at an Ardrossan supermarket.
Jennifer Frey, 36, denied four charges against her during a hearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
Ms Frey, of Broomlands Gate in Irvine, has been accused of stealing a quantity of alcohol from the Asda store on Harbour Road in Ardrossan on September 11 this year.
It is also alleged that she tried to strike two staff members at the store with a set of pliers and threatened the same two employees with violence.
A further charge alleges that Ms Frey was in possession of an offensive weapon - the aforementioned pliers - in Glasgow Street a short time later.
A final charge accuses her of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards police by placing the pliers on her neck, refusing to drop them, shouting, swearing and threatening the cops with violence.
Ms Frey later submitted not guilty pleas to the charges she faced at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, which she has maintained.
That means that the case will now continue to trial which will be held later this year.
