A Saltcoats-born author is set to release his latest novel this week.
Scott Alcroft has already released six books and his latest work is due to hit the shelves on Friday, December 1.
Scott was raised in the Three Towns and now resides in Gibraltar but he still took the time to chat with the Herald about his latest book 'Hugo, Unfinished Business'.
The novel is the sequel to his second piece of published work 'Hugo', in which the main character heads to the Costa Del Sol in the 1990s to take over the drugs trade.
In the previous book, Hugo had to leave hastily following a bank robbery in Gibraltar.
In Scott's latest work, the main character has retuned to the same place and he has some unfinished business.
Scott has shared his joy ahead of releasing his latest work and said he enjoys taking his imagination back to a location he knows so well.
He said: "It was fantastic to be honest. I know this area inside out so I wanted to make sure that a few places that I frequent myself were mentioned in the book."
The Saltcoats man has given fans an insight into his latest novel without giving too much away.
He added: "I don’t want to give too much away but Hugo’s best friend 'Simon' is involved in a love triangle over in Spain with Helen and Hanna and he has some unfinished business that he needs to take of there.
"JJ, from Healy’s bar from my book series, also has something to take care of also."
Of course, if you are unfamiliar with Scott's work, these names may seem rather unfamiliar. While this book is a direct sequel to his second - all seven of his books coincide with each other.
"You mustn’t read this one if you haven’t read the other six," the author explained, "as this one will give away the major events from each of my other books."
And despite having written over half a dozen novels to date, Scott says he has no plans of letting up just yet.
He said: " I have lots of ideas in this head of mine and my plan is to write at least twenty or so.
"I would love them to be picked up by TV, film or theatre one day and hopefully that will happen. The ratings and reviews they are all getting are incredible."
While it is clear that his current residence in Spain has inspired large parts of his writing, Scott says he has received plenty of love from his hometown.
He added: "Life is great over here. I’m so blessed. My son is coming to live with me permanently soon too so I can’t wait for that.
"I hope to try and squeeze a visit [to the Three Towns] in before Christmas so hopefully I’ll see a few of you around.
"I just want to say a massive thank you to the people of the Three Towns as ever for your continued love and support. It means the world to me."
Hugo, Unfinished Business will be available on Amazon on Kindle or paperback - priced at £5.99 and £9.99 respectively - from Friday, December 1. It can also be purchased as a hardcover for £14.99. While Scott added that he hopes to have all his novels available as audiobooks in the near future.
