POLICE are appealing for information after a vehicle was 'deliberately' set on fire on one of North Ayrshire's busiest commuter roads.
Officers say that a they were responding to reports of a silver BMW which was reportedly set alight on the A737 westbound near Dalry.
The incident took place late, around 11.30pm, on Saturday December 2.
Emergency services attended, and the fire was then extinguished.
At this stage, there have been no reports of any injuries as a result the incident which Police Scotland are calling "a wilful vehicle fire".
Now, enquiries are underway to find out more, with officers appealing for anyone who may be able to assist to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Andrea Templeton said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with information to get in touch.
“We would also ask anyone driving in the area at the time who has dash-cam footage to contact us.”
