A KILBIRNIE Primary School has been forced to close today due to "major flooding".
A message sent to parents at St Bridget's in the town explained the decision which was made early this morning (Friday December 8).
This states that the issue was caused by flooding in the school's boiler house which, as well as water ingress, has impacting their supply of electricity and gas supplies.
As a result, it was decided that the primary school, as well as early years centre and Education for Social Responsibility base.
The statement added: "Work has been ongoing overnight and will continue today to address the issue.
"Please accept our utmost apologies for the disruption and inconvenience."
