A GROUP of determined pupils in Kilwinning braved the cold in a bid to make their final year at primary school one to remember.
Youngsters in their final year at St Winning's Primary completed a five-mile sponsored walk last week as they looked to raise funds that can be put towards organising leavers events.
Despite the sub-zero temperatures, the children has a ball as they laughed, joked and sang their way from the school to Eglinton Country Park and back.
Accompanied by two teachers and five parents, the pupils each had some Smarties and candy canes when they got to the park for a play before heading back.
Their teacher even promised to make them all a nice hot chocolate to reheat back at the school!
Some sponsorship money has yet to be collected, but it's hoped the determined youngsters will have raised £500 from the walk alone.
That would put them a huge way towards their target of raising £2,000 to mark the end of their time at primary school with a series of events - in particular an end-of-year prom.
A spokesperson for the fund-raising team added: "With donations from kind parents and local businesses, along with their sponsors and fund-raising, I am hopeful they will reach their target and have a great year.
"A huge thank you goes to all who have donated so far, including some kind-hearted businesses in Woolgar Hunter Ltd, The Lemon Tree and Dream Clean."
