Stevenston's festive lights switch-on was a huge success - thanks to the brilliant efforts of all the volunteers.
The event last week was thoroughly enjoyed by locals and the big switch-on was carried out by Canon Martin Poland and Rev Scott Cameron.
A special new addition to this year was placed above the entrance to the library - a light dedicated to the memory of the much missed Shirley Morgan.
Local councillor John Sweeney told the Herald: "Stevenston Christmas Lights Committee, Craig Mochan, Diane Reid and myself would like to express sincere thanks to many people who helped to make this year’s event a success.
"We wish to thank Gordon and Val and the Team from Connected Communities, Stevenston Beattie Library staff and Community Events staff for their continued support.
"We are also grateful for the assistance from NAC Roads, Lighting and Streetscene Teams.
"A huge thanks to Stevenston firm GasSure for their extremely generous support to Stevenston Christmas Lights event.
"Thanks also to the staff and volunteers from the HOPE Project on Alexander Place for the Teas, Coffees and food.
"A special thanks to Canon Martin Poland and Rev Scott Cameron for switching on the lights this year.
"We are delighted to have a new Christmas light this year and it is dedicated to the memory of our late great lovely friend Shirley Morgan. This light has a special place above the entrance to the library.
"We would also like to thank the businesses in the town for the wonderful window displays."£
The winners of the window display competition this year were: 1: B’Hive & Blush, 2: Salon L & M, 3: Sheryl’s Barbers.
Each year Stevenston Christmas Lights Committee invite all the schools to take part in a Christmas Card Competition. The winners this year from the schools that were able to take part were:
Ardeer PS: Lucy Byers Primary 4; Glencairn PS: Charlotte-Rose Goldie Primary 4/3; Hayocks PS: Lilly Hume Primary 5; St Johns PS: Laylah Carter Primary 6.
Councillor Sweeny added: "We are very grateful to Clyde Studios who have again agreed to professionally recreate the Christmas Cards from the winners to enable them to be given to family and friends.”
