PLANS for a new cafe and takeaway in Saltcoats have been given the green light.
The eatery will look to offer Mediterranean cuisine with "a dash of local flavour" to offer "a unique culinary experience for the community".
The application, which was brought to the council at the beginning of last month, refers to changing the use of part of a unit on the town's Bradshaw Street.
Number 12 - which is next door to Motherland Spice - is currently occupied by a barber's shop, which would remain within the premises.
A section of the current business offering "male grooming products" is to be converted to form the new cafe and takeaway, which would offer hot and cold food to be eaten onsite or elsewhere.
The two sections of the premises will be entered via different doors.
Documents supporting the application state that the premises will open from 7am until11pm offering breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The new business is set to create 12 jobs, which the applicant, Mr Karimi, states will "contribute to the growth and economic development of the area".
A planning statement added: "The hot and cold food takeaway establishment will offer Mediterranean cuisine with a dash of local flavours, catering to the diverse tastes and preferences of the local community.
"Our menu will include a variety of dishes prepared with fresh ingredients, providing a convenient and flavourful dining option for residents and visitors alike.
"We firmly believe that the proposed hot food takeaway will be a valuable addition to the area. The Mediterranean-inspired menu, combined with local influences, will provide a unique culinary experience for the community.
"The establishment will contribute to the vibrancy of the local business scene, enhancing the area's appeal and providing residents with increased dining options."
The proposals will approved by North Ayrshire Council planners earlier this month, subject to two conditions.
The new business will only be allowed to open during the hours specified in the application, and details of the extraction system the premises will use must be approved by the planning authority prior to opening.
No timescale has been provided at this stage as to when work will begin.
