As we celebrate the turn of the year, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our emergency service personnel as well as our armed forces who do so much to keep people in North Ayrshire safe all year round.
Thank you also to our postal workers, delivery drivers, shopworkers and so many more for their invaluable work at this time of year too.
The best way of course our governments can thank workers is by tackling the cost of living crisis and the other big issues which have dominated 2023.
2024 must be the year when working people worrying about their bills finally get the support that they need.
Let’s too address the NHS backlog to bring down unacceptable wait times for treatment and seriously tackle the housing emergency so people can live in warm and secure homes.
This time of year serves as a reminder of the importance of community, compassion and togetherness and our collective efforts can create a brighter future that serves the needs of all.
In 2023, we have seen a change in First Minister with Humza Yousaf stepping into the role after the resignation of Nicola Sturgeon but with a General Election set to take place over the next twelve months - there is a huge opportunity for meaningful change.
I believe 2024 will be a year of positive change - if we seize that opportunity.
I would like to wish everyone a very happy festive season and a fantastic New Year.
