A BRAVE Ardrossan teen battling a rare form of cancer has braved the shave in her efforts to raise funds for others going through the same ordeal.
Family and friends of Georgie Hyslop also waved goodbye to their locks during the event, which is supporting three good causes.
The Ardrossan Academy pupil was inspired to fundraise when her life was turned upside down at the end of last year.
The 15-year-old suffered what was initially thought to be a stress fracture in one of her bones.
After doctors noticed it was not healing, MRI and CT scans later diagnosed Georgie with a rare cancer called Ewing sarcoma, which occurs in bones or the soft tissue around them.
Georgie, who works as a paper girl delivering the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald, has temporarily passed on her job to her sister Megan as she undergoes chemotherapy.
However, the brave teenager has not let her health struggles get her down.

She has now started a fundraising page aimed at supporting three causes which have offered her support.
The teen and her family set up a JustGiving page in a bid to raise cash for some very worthwhile causes.
The money raised will be donated to the Schiehallion Ward at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, where Georgie is currently being treated.
Funds will also be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust and Marion's House - a charity that helps children, young people and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them.
The Brave the Shave event was the first organised by Georgie and her family as they look to continue their remarkable fundraising efforts.
Following the event, a fantastic £14,000 has already been raised.
"It’s a phenomenal amount that’s been raised in such a short space of time," said Georgie's mum Lynn.
"We are so grateful for each and every donation.
"Georgie feels so supported and seeing the target go up and up is such a positive asset and, as a family, it’s helping us have a positive attitude."
A number of family and friends braved the shave - alongside Georgie - at Ardrossan barbers DDs Cutz on Thursday, January 4.
Owner Donna McMahon, alongside fellow barber and hairdresser Karen MacDonald, offered their support at the event.
Those who braved the shave included Georgie, mum Lynn and dad Paul.
Cameron Reid, aged five, also took part and Georgie's uncle Jim shaved his beard - which he has been growing for two years - after much persuading.
