The A737 has reopened between Dalry and Kilwinning following a major gas leak in the area.
The busy road had been shut between the Hillend Roundabout and Old Monk Castle at Dalgarven since around 7am this morning due to the issue, with traffic being diverted along the B714.
The road has now reopened with temporary traffic lights after engineers from SGN fixed the issue.
An SGN spokesperson said: "Our engineers have now completed emergency repair work to our gas network at the A737.
"Due to the specialist equipment which was required for our repairs, temporary traffic lights will be put in place on the road this evening, until the equipment can be safely collected tomorrow.
"This means the road will be re-opened to motorists under temporary traffic lights from approximately 7pm this evening."
