EMERGENCY crews rushed to deal with a fire at Ardrossan's short-stay hostel at the weekend.
Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to the property on Princes Street on the evening of Sunday, January 14.
The emergency services were alerted after the "smell of burning" was detected at the property.
The SFRS sent three appliances to the scene and put out the blaze. There were no reported casualties.
Eyewitnesses also stated that at least three or four police vehicles were at the scene around the time of the incident.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We responded at 8.49pm on Sunday, January 14, to reports of a smell of burning within a property at Princes Street, Ardrossan.
“Operations control mobilised three appliances to the scene. The fire was extinguished prior to our arrival.
“No casualties were reported, and the crew left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
A female was later arrested in connection with the incident and was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court earlier this week.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.55pm on Sunday, January 14, 2023, police received a report of a disturbance at a premises in Princes Street, Ardrossan.
"There are no reports of any injuries and a 34-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. She was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court."
