A FUNDRAISER has been launched to help the family of murder victim Alan Lawson with the funeral costs.
We previously revealed that a murder investigation has been launched after the death of the Saltcoats man.
Police Scotland say that Alan was assaulted on Saturday, February 3, at a property on Alexander Avenue, Largs.
Officers added that he was also seen on New England Road in Saltcoats the following evening.
The 36-year-old then died in hospital on Tuesday, February 6.
Now, friends of the family have set up a GoFundMe for Alan to help the family with funeral expenses.
In a statement, it said: "No one can believe what has happened to Alan or the horror he and his family are going through.
"We have set up this page to try and help ease the burden of having to worry about funeral expenses as they are already trying to come to teams with what’s happened without having to worry about anything else. We know funerals are not cheap.
"Any small donation would help massively and would be deeply appreciated. Let's give Alan the send-off he deserves!"
The fundraiser has already exceeded its £1,000 target within hours of it going live.
Detectives have now launched an online portal for members of the public with information to contact officers directly.
The online portal that gives people access to a form to send information, pictures or videos directly to the team can be accessed by following this link.
