A BEITH man has been handed a fine after threatening his own mother with violence.
Andrew Baillie, 37, was sentenced at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court following the incident two years ago.
Baillie, of Ash Drive, had previously pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards his mum during the incident on March 4, 2022.
He admitted adopting an aggressive demeanour, repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence, putting his mother in a state of fear and alarm.
Baillie's soliciitor explained the 37-year-old "had a serious alcohol and drug addiction" at the time of the incident.
It was something which nearly cost the Beith man - who appeared in court with a walking stick - the use of his legs.
His solicitor added: “He makes no excuse for his conduct and accepts responsibility.”
Sheriff Murdoch Mactaggart imposed a fine of £790.
