A NEW convenience store is now open in Stevenston - after concerns were raised about its proximity to an alcohol treatment centre.
A Day-Today shop has began operating in the Grange Business Centre on the corner of Boglemart Street and Glebe Street.
The opening follows prior approval of a controversial licensing application for the premises.
Permissions was granted for use as a licenced premises, selling alcohol from 10am to 10pm, despite concerns that the unit is directly below an alcohol treatment centre.
However, an agreement was reached with Turning Point Scotland, which runs the treatment facility, after talks with building owner Chris McMail - who the charity said had been a "great advocate" of the work done at the centre.
Advertisements stating that the store is now open have been noted in the area in recent days, though there is no further information about the store's opening hours.
