A SALTCOATS-based business had a special guest visitor last week as the nation marked Scottish Apprenticeship Week.
Kenneth Gibson MSP headed to Wescot Credit Services, who work alongside Genius People to provide skills development programmes to many of the company's employees.
The successful partnership is now in its tenth year with more than 750 colleagues at Wescot now successfully making their way through the award-winning training.
The programme has seen many colleagues use their qualifications to develop their skills and progress through they business and is something Wescot really want to continue.
In a visit organised by Skills Development Scotland, Mr Gibson was shown around the company's Saltcoats office by business performance manager Leah Ralton-Hunter.
He also met talent development manager Susan Gayton and change and talent development manager Julian Blair as well as training provider 'Genius People - Genius Education'.
The Cunninghame North MSP also met some of the workers who are in training at the company's Saltcoats branch.
Robert Kidd, Helen McCallum, Gillian Palmer, Martin Monan, Katie Stevely, William McGuigan and Leanne Clements all spent time sharing their stories about why they choose to study and what they are looking forward to.
Mr Gibson commented: "It was great to hear from them and Wescot’s enthusiastic apprentices about the benefits apprenticeships bring to them and their professional development.
"Recently the Wescot programme was further enhanced by utilising the Scottish Government’s Flexible Workforce Development Fund to expand the progression offered to coaching employees and more senior management.
"I look forward to continuing to work with Wescot on how they can expand their apprenticeship programme going forward."
