The senior choir at Beith Primary school enjoyed great success at the recent Ayrshire Music Festival - returning with two trophies.
As well as winning the primary school singing title, they also won the Saville Challenge Cup, which is awarded each year to the best choir at the festival.
The boys and girls in the choir had learned two contrasting songs – ‘The Moon’ and ‘We are the Children’.
Mae Murray accompanied the choir on the piano.
And the talented young singers and their teacher Pam Roulston, were delighted to win first place in the class as well as the major trophy.
Their teacher and all at Beith Primary School were very proud of their wonderful achievement.
Mrs Roulston said: “It has been a delight working with this choir group preparing for the Ayrshire Music Festival when they performed so well on the day.
"They are all so dedicated and enthusiastic and sing well as a choir.
"I would also like to thank Miss Mae Murray for her work as accompanist.
"The choir and school community are delighted at their success. I am very proud of them all and coming home with two trophies was very special for us all.”
Councillor Donald L. Reid said: "I and the local community in Beith and District are absolutely delighted at the success of Beith Primary School Choir at the recent Ayrshire Music Festival.
"They have an extremely dedicated teacher, Mrs Pam Roulston, who has tutored the various Beith Primary choirs for many years.
"Incidentally she also manages to dedicate time to the school Country Dance team, highlighting her 'above and beyond' commitment to extracarricular education at Beith.
"The choir are very committed and perform at events in the town and district including Beith Festive Lights event and most recently at a Christmas concert at Geilsland Hall when they performed with Garnock Valley Community Band and Beith Theatre Group Choir receiving well-deserved praise from the large audience.
"Mrs Roulston is a shining example of someone who just loves teaching. She gives freely of her time and talents and actively encourages children outwith formal school activities, delivering success for the choir, the school and local community."
