An 81-year old resident of a Stevenston care home has fought off stiff competition to win an Easter card competition.
Kate Darroch's design beat residents from 22 other Holmes Care Group facilities to take the top prize.
And the Three Towns Care Home resident's winning entry was converted into an interactive digital card which was emailed out to staff, external stakeholders and also widely circulated and shared across the care home group’s social media platforms just in time for Good Friday.
A delighted Kate said: "‘I’ve never ever won anything in my life!"
Kate’s design, an intricate coloured pencil drawing of two residents carrying Easter eggs, caught the judges’ eyes due to its attention to detail and general feel-good-factor.
Margo Brannigan, business support administrator at the care home in Stevenston's Afton Road, said: ‘Kate is so excited to send the picture of her card to family in Canada."
Sharifa Lakhani, CEO of Holmes Care Group said: ‘We were genuinely overwhelmed with the enormous number of entries to this competition specifically created for residents.
"Each entry was thoughtfully and artfully created and it was a privilege to spend time enjoying each and every one.
"Huge congratulations to Kate on her winning design – we are extremely proud to be able to share such a beautiful card on Holmes Care’s social media platforms and website."
