THE countdown is on to the Ardrossan Highland Games - and a dedicated local volunteer has been chosen as this year's chieftain.
The popular event is always a highlight in the local calendar and always provides a fantastic day for all the family.
Someone who always plays a major role in the games is the chieftain - and the organising committee has announced that this year the role will be filled by Glenn Turner.
Glenn will follow on from Brenda Johnstone who was exceptional in the role in 2023.
A Saltcoats native, Glenn is well known to many as the owner of several small businesses around the area.
He has also spent many years volunteering with local organisations such as SeaSalt Streets, the Saltcoats Active Lifestyle Team and Ripple Effect.
And his hard work has not gone unnoticed by the Games' organisers, who say Glenn is the perfect person to take on the vital role.
Glenn, along with his wife Lynn and three children, say they are looking forward to the event which will be taking place on Sunday, June 9, at the Memorial Field.
Glenn said: "I was surprised to be asked, and delighted to accept, not only for myself but as recognition for all the volunteers working to make our communities better."
Meanwhile, the Games committee is still on the lookout for anyone interested in advertising at the event, as well as any potential stall holders and crafters looking for a table at the craft tent.
Anyone interested in finding out more can do so on the Games website at ardrossanhighlandgames.org.uk.
