The Make Arran a Million campaign has already reached a total of £1,000 in just a few days since it launched.
The appeal was set up by the Arran Trust last week in a bid to support community groups and businesses who work on projects to keep the island beautiful.
The aim is to ask anyone who has loved their stay on the island, to donate just £2.68 into the campaign.
On average, Arran gets 373,000 visitors per year. This scheme suggests that a modest donation of £2.68 from anyone who has loved their stay on Arran, could help to raise one million pounds.
Kenneth J. Bone, chair of the Arran Trust said: "This scheme is completely voluntary. Hopefully if people enjoy their stay, or have enjoyed a previous stay, they will consider donating just £2.68 to help look after the island they love."
Sheila Gilmore, chief executive of the Arran Trust said: "We've based the campaign on an average number of visitors to Arran.
"If everyone that visits, or indeed anyone who has visited previously donated just £2.68 - we could raise a million pounds.
"To put it another way, that's just 12 per cent of a bottle of Arran Gold, or 75 per cent of a family tub of Arran ice cream!"
The organisers say that this is an "anti-tourist tax" as it's completely voluntary.
A spokesperson added: "Some naughty people have kindly donated more than the requested £2.68...however, organisers confirm they won't be penalised for this, though the target is to try and engage as many people as possible with the small amount requested.
"So for just £2.68, people can know they are supporting volunteers and community groups of Arran who work tirelessly to keep and preserve the island's natural assets."
