EMERGENCY crews are set to be stood down from the scene of a battery recycling plant fire in Kilwinning.
It comes nearly four full days after the blaze broke out at a unit on Byrehill Place.
Public health advice to shelter at home for nearby residents who were also told to keep windows and doors closed is also being lifted.
The fire at the Fenix battery recycling centre broke out at around 10pm on Monday, April 8.
At its peak 40 fire fighters tackled the blaze, with those numbers slowly reduced until the blaze was under control. One fire appliance remained at the scene until the evening of Friday, April 12.
Crews are now to be stood down from the scene, however the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) will carry out regular checks of the site area as standard to ensure the building remains safe.
The handing of the incident has required a multi-agency response which has included Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Public Health, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, North Ayrshire Council, Scottish Water and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
Police inquiries are ongoing and the multi-agency partnership will continue to meet as part of the recovery phase.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We would like to thank the local community for their patience, support and understanding throughout the emergency response to this major incident.
"Please continue to follow North Ayrshire Council, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland for the latest information."
