A Kilwinning man is stepping forward to raise vital funds to help local people struggling in debt and poverty.
Fraser McLaren, 24, is raising funds for the Irvine, Three Towns and Kilmarnock Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre, which offers free debt advice to local people in need.
On Sunday, May 26, Fraser will take on the challenge of running a half marathon in Edinburgh.
Fraser said: “A lot of people in my home area have been negatively impacted by two years of rising costs and need help to get back on their feet and I'm passionate about doing my bit to help others who are struggling in our local community.
“Christians Against Poverty’s Three Towns and Kilmarnock Debt Centre is providing free debt advice which is making a massive difference to people in our area who are struggling in debt and poverty.
"I also learned that money coaching from CAP is now being delivered for free to local clubs, community groups and employers to help people learn important budgeting skills. I want to support the local team in providing free financial education for all."
CAP's Irvine debt centre manager, Sandy Dickson, said: "We are delighted that Fraser has chosen to support us in this way and wish him well in his training and preparation for the run in Edinburgh.
“With all the rising costs there’s a lot of local people who are really struggling right now but we are able to offer free, professional, face to face debt advice to help them break free from the chains of debt and have the opportunity of a brighter future.
“By supporting our work and donating to Fraser's fundraiser you can play your part in helping us tackle poverty and help more local people to become debt free.”
Fraser is aiming to raise £500 for CAP’s Three Towns and Kilmarnock Debt Centre.
