An amazing Saltcoats couple will be running the London Marathon on Sunday in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation.
John and Amanda Cairns look set to raise more than £6,000 for the charity, which aims to make dreams come true for children suffering from a critical condition.
Amanda said: "We’ve both trained so hard for this, with our busy lifestyles, to raise a significant amount of money for the charity.
"It is close to our hearts. John's friend's son used the charity and in my old work, I worked closely with a little boy who used the charity.
"It was the charity that felt right for us to raise money for. The more we raise the more we want to try and double."
She added: "Sadly, the number of wish enquiries from seriously ill children with less than a year to live is rising fast.
"They need help to meet this urgent demand now - before it’s too late. For families with critically ill children, every day counts.
"Our support has the power to make a wish come true for a critically ill child, allowing families to create lasting memories that they will treasure forever – no matter what the future holds."
Last year, the couple raised cash for the charity with a Christmas fayre held in Saltcoats Labour Club.
Best of luck to John and Amanda from all at the Herald.
