A man has admitted assaulting a pregnant woman in Stevenston.
Francis Martin Murphy, 40, appeared from custody at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to the attack on September 5 last year in the town's New Street.
Court papers state that Murphy assaulted the woman, then pregnant, repeatedly punched her on the head and body and struck her on the body with a glass bottle, all to her injury.
His lawyer told the court that he had a previous record of minor offences, but did have a cocaine problem before his arrest.
He urged Sheriff Robert Vaughan to call for further reports, and the case was adjourned until next month.
