Teen Stevenston singer's Famous Tartan Army set for release

Anna Muir, 18, who performs as Annastaisyar, has recorded The Famous Tartan Army and shot an amazing video through the streets of Irvine accompanied by fans and supporters and a piper.

It's been an astonishing comeback for the Stevenston girl, who just two years ago was left paralysed in a hospital bed.

Diagnosed with functional neurological disorder (FND), she spent two months in hospital and was confined to a wheelchair for nine months.

But she's since made a remarkable recovery - and proved it by dancing through the streets of Irvine for her new video.

The track promises to be a stirring anthem for fans of the Scottish football team as they prepare for the Euros in Germany.

Featuring a dynamic blend of traditional Scottish instruments including bagpipes, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and tin whistle, 'The Famous Tartan Army' captures the essence of Scottish pride and camaraderie.

For the video shoot, Annastaisyar dressed up in full authentic Scottish warrior plaid, along with Jamie McPhail Wilson from Clann An Drumma, also in full Highland battle gear. 

Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Annastaisyar said: "I wanted to create a song that captured the spirit of the Tartan Army and their unwavering support for the Scottish football team, travelling to the four corners of the earth.

"This song is for the fans, by the fans, and I hope it brings some joy and excitement to everyone who hears it." 

Annastaisyar had already made a name for herself as an emerging talent when she was struck by FND and landed in hospital.

She said: "I just went to bed one day and woke up paralysed from the waist down. I was in hospital for over two months and in a wheelchair for nine months.

"I fought my way out my chair and onto a zimmer frame with intense neurological physiotherapy, then took a huge seizure and was totally paralysed and could only blink to communicate."

But even as she fought back from the illness, the singer made a bid to get into the Guinness Book of Records by performing 100 songs, all in different genres, She's now waiting to find out if her bid will be confirmed as a world record.

From concept to final product, Annastaisyar's debut single was brought to life in just three weeks, a testament to her creativity and dedication.

She was assisted by local producer and multi instrumentalist Stephen Bull, Irvine and District Pipe Band's pipe major Scott Gardener, and Jack Vize.

With its authentic Scottish vibe and infectious energy, The Famous Tartan Army is now poised to become a rallying cry for fans across the nation. 

The song will be available on all major streaming platforms on May 31.
