NO ONE was traced following a police 'man hunt' in Ardrossan on Wednesday (May 15), officers have said.

It follows reports from the Castle Hill area of the town that cops had been combing the area in search of a suspect.

Police vehicles, including vans and cars with sirens blaring, headed up the town's Glasgow Street at around 7pm before further investigations were conducted.

Officers were seen at every entrance to the site of Ardrossan's historic castle, with some spotted by passers-by emerging from the ancient structure itself following a search of the area.

However, it has now been confirmed that the suspect in question was not traced following the search efforts.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.45pm on Wednesday, May 15, searches were carried out in and around the area of Harbour Road, Ardrossan for a man wanted in connection with an outstanding matter.

“No one was traced and enquiries are ongoing.”
