West Kilbride P7 pupils have won the area heats of the Rotary Club’s District Primary School Quiz and are now set to compete in the Grand Final which will be held in Stirling next month.
Following the school's success in the Hunterston Rotary Club's annual quiz in April, the P7 class then triumphed in the recent Rotary district quiz heats which were held in Newton Mearns.
That saw 17 schools participate from five of Rotary’s 12 areas including North Clyde, South Clyde, Glasgow City, Lanarkshire and Ayrshire.
West Kilbride Primary 7 pupils, Arran Fox, Liam Keane, Isla Wilson and Jamie Shelley, will now join the two other Ayrshire primaries, Annanhill and Springside, travelling to Stirling University’s Stirling Court Hotel on June 1 to compete in the district final.
Gemma Carson, Head Teacher at West Kilbride Primary School and Early Years Class, was delighted by the team's performance.
She said: "We are so proud of the achievements of our West Kilbride Primary School Rotary Quiz Team in reaching the Regional Final in Stirling.
"The team have a strong work ethic and have been practising weekly, with their sights set on success.
"We wish them the best of luck as they move into the final.”
The Rotary Club of Hunterston’s annual quiz has become a popular fixture in the primary school calendars according to President Elect, Norman Whyte.
He said: “What a result by West Kilbride primary contestants. They will fly the flag for North Ayrshire’s entrants at the district final next month and we send them our best wishes.”
