NORTH Ayrshire Council say they have arranged for the repair of a damaged traffic signal near Ardrossan Academy.
An issue was reported from the signal on the school side of the Parkhouse Road crossing on Thursday, May 16.
Locals voiced concerns that the damage could potentially be "dangerous" with the covering removed around the road crossing button.
This left wires exposed to the elements, and possible further damage, however the signal was still working as usual.
North Ayrshire Council say that this has since been made safe and that a full fix should be implemented by today, Friday May 18.
A spokesperson said: “The issue was reported to our maintenance contractor on Thursday (May 16) and when they attended the site it was noted that the crossing was still operational. However, the push button lens had been removed.
“The contractor has made the unit safe and expects to make a full repair to the lens today (Friday, May 17)."
