THREE Towns dance school, Dance Mafia, enjoyed an incredibly successful time at the Scottish Championship Weekender.
The event was held at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow from May 10 to 12, and is considered the most prestigious of all national contests.
A total of 35 dance school attended the event, with 140 teams making it to the finals, and a further 1,150 soloists.
Across various age categories and team events there are only a handful of trophies to be won - and in spectacular fashion, Dance Mafia came home with plenty in hand.
With only ten solo trophies up for grabs, talented youngsters Eva Arnold, Cobyn Miller, Abbie Wilson and Olivia Riddex all brought back top prizes in their categories.
There was plenty success elsewhere with a number of spectacular places from Dance Mafia kids across the various competitions.
Dance tutor Amyleigh Cavanagh commented: “I always say if they go out and do their best that’s all we can ask for.
“For everyone, it was honestly the best I’ve seen them dance – even if they didn’t win.”
The Three Towns dance troop also enjoyed further success across the various team competitions.
In the under 10 musical theatre category, Dance Mafia placed in the top three and earned the judges choice award following a fantastic performance inspired by Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 'Murder on the Dancefloor'.
There was also a top prize for the troop's impressive commercial team who were proudly named Scottish Champions in the under 12 category.
A final victory was a real highlight for Amyleigh as Dance Mafia's "Lil Gs" were crowned Champion of Champions in the junior hip hop category.
As an under 10 team competing at up to under 13 level, the youngsters performed incredibly to even get to the finals stage.
So it was even more impressive when, out of all the regional winners, they managed to claim first position for the whole of Scotland.
Amyleigh commented: “All the kids were coming up to me like ‘Amyleigh who’s going to hold the trophy if we get anything?’
“I was like ‘guys sit down, let’s wait and see what happens’.
“I was just not expecting it and I was still sitting in my seat up a level. When they announced it I nearly jumped up off the balcony to get down to the stage."
She added: “Everyone stays to watch champion of champions, it’s like the main event, the talent that was in there was unbelievable.
“The kids were just over the moon. They got a big sign saying they were the winners and they actually walked around Glasgow with it.
“Everyone was cheering them on - it was like Britain’s Got Talent.”
One of the best parts of the whole experience was the 150 strong team of Dance Mafia parents, friends, families and dancers being able to enjoy an incredible day together.
Amyleigh continued: “It was just such a good weekend. You work towards these things and usually events are in like Blackpool.
“We don’t really get to spend too much time together because everyone goes and does their own thing.
“Being altogether in the centre of Glasgow was just brilliant and the kids had the best time.”
