Stevenston community group Friends were set to receive the Queen’s Gold Jubilee Award for voluntary service in 2004. The group had improved the environment through creative projects for young people. Founder Gavin McInnes is pictured with Councillor Alan Munro, Nan Wallace, who nominated them, and volunteers John Reid and Andy Niven.
Kids enjoyed the sunshine at the Hayocks Primary School annual sports day.
Caddy Gordon Sawers was invited to carry the bags of three Open champions at Royal Troon. The 25-year-old Stevenston man caddied for Jack Nicklaus, pictured, Sandy Lyle and Ben Curtis at a special coaching session at the course.
British Energy were once again principal sponsors of Ardrossan Highland Games. Hunterston ‘B’ Station director Brian Cowell is pictured with the Games vice-chairwoman Brenda Johnstone.
Jodie Thompson was announced as the Whitlees Gala Queen for 2004. She is pictured with her lady-in-waiting Laura Muir, Princesses Marie Friel and Kaya Munn and page boy Johnathon Muir.
