THE Metro nightclub in Saltcoats is set to host live bands for the first time since its return.

The iconic venue is set to play host to the gig on Friday, May 31, with a pair of bands set to wow fans.

Dubbed 'Live Wire', the event will be headlined by one of the UK's best-known and most successful tribute bands - The Complete Stone Roses (TCSR).

Boasting tens of thousands of followers on social media, TCSR have regularly sold out venues across the UK and Ireland as they carry on the music of one of Britain's most influential bands.

The tribute act are even 'adored' by members of the original band, with The Stone Roses bassist Gary 'Mani' Mounfield once commenting that "they do our songs real justice- at times, they play even better than we did".

The event has been arranged by local promotor Opal17, who has also arranged for Stevenston-based band Shotgun to provide support to TCSR on Friday.

The band say they cannot wait to play at the iconic Metro nightclub, a venue they are very familiar with.

They said: "We're delighted to be a part of it, it's great to see and hear people getting excited at being able to see an established act like the TCSR in a Three Towns venue.

"There's a real buzz about the town. We've seen TCSR before and honesty - they're better than the real ones live!

"Obviously we're also thrilled to be one of the first guitar bands to grace the stage in the Metro.

"It's great to have the chance to play for our loyal local followers who have been there since the start - without traipsing them half way round the country!

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald: A fantastic night of live music is planned with The Complete Stone Roses to headline the Metro on

"We spent our late teens in the Metro at weekends misbehaving and now we get to do it all again this weekend."

Metro owners Stevie Miller and Gary Burns say they are delighted to be bringing something a little different into town.

They commented: "We are happy to be able to provide a venue where all music genres can be played which was always part of our plans.

"We plan to bring lots more different nights to the town with comedy nights, country events and even boxing/wrestling nights.

"We just want to make people happy with what we are trying to do here. We want the town to be busy again and attract people from all over not just to help our business but everyone's business."
