PLANS have been confirmed as Saltcoats prepares to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
A special event is to be held on Thursday, June 6, spanning large parts of the town before concluding with the lighting of the beacon at Saltcoats Harbour.
Proceedings are to begin from the town's war memorial at 8.15pm.
From here, local veterans will be relaying a flame past the Melbourne Cafe, then along the shore front and The Braes, before arriving at the harbour.
A few short speeches will then be made afterwards, before the beacon is lit at the end of the harbour at 9.15pm sharp.
All are invited to come along to any stage of the event and help the town pay tribute exactly 80 years to the day since the Normandy landings that changed the course of the Second World War.
