One of North Ayrshire’s most promising young netball teams are this month’s recipients of the Rotary Club of Hunterston Community Award scheme.
The West Kilbride Primary School team are currently enjoying a tremendous run of wins and are through to the North Ayrshire Active Schools Primary School Netball Tournament, qualifying along with Ardrossan’s Stanley Primary School.
Team players, along with their coaches Fiona Ferrie and Pamela Couper, recently met with Hunterston Rotary Club members to receive their £200 cheque from the club's community secretary Jim Jackson.
Pamela said: “Our mixed team of boys and girls have qualified for the North Ayrshire finals netball tournament finishing top of their group in the Ardrossan schools cluster.
“We really appreciate the support of Hunterston Rotary and the award will be used to buy new equipment including balls, storage and bibs with the WKPS logo for the team and future members. The award will cover these costs, making the squad look as good as they play.”
The netball finals will be held on Thursday, June 13 at St Matthews Academy in Saltcoats, where the West Kilbride team will compete against schools from each primary cluster in North Ayrshire.
