A HIGHLY popular sandcastle competition is set to return to Saltcoats this weekend.
For the past two years, the Saltcoats Active Lifestyle Team (SALT) community group have hosted the contest on the town's beach.
It is something that has proved a major hit with local families - so much so that it is returning for a third year.
The event will take place from 12-3pm on Saturday, June 15, with plenty of fun to be had and prizes to be won.
And SALT are hoping that this year's castle builders can at least match, if not beat, the 50 entries they had in 2023.
Those taking part in the competition will be in with a chance of securing prizes from some wonderful local businesses.
Top places will be awarded vouchers including £40 for Bouncestation in Irvine; £20 from Cavani's in Saltcoats; £20 for the Melbourne Fry in Saltcoats; £20 for the Cafe Palazzo in Ardrossan and £20 for the Melbourne Cafe in Saltcoats.
And all kids coming along on the day will be able to pick up a free ice cream - which is sure to be a big hit.
There will also be a number of volunteers running craft games and much more for all those coming along.
The event is one you will not want to miss - but, of course, don't forget to bring your buckets and spades!
