THE founder of an incredible milk bottle museum is set to visit North Ayrshire for the first time.
Steve Wheeler 's collection contains more than 23,000 items, some dating back to the early 1900s.
His collection includes all kinds of sizes and designs, from quarter, half and full pints to quarts - two pints or one-eighth of a gallon.
But none of them, for the moment at least, come from North Ayrshire.
That's something Steve hopes to rectify when he visits the area this summer.
The bottles in his collection came in a range of colours, with a number also embossed, while the man from Malvern in Worcestershire in England has also collected a wide array of old cardboard caps which were used to seal milk bottles until the early 1950s.
However, with a trip to the area planned for early July, the museum founder is hoping this will provide an opportunity to unearth even more items to add to his collection.
Steve commented: "I would ask if anyone has any old bottles or caps to please get in touch, and we can call in.
"They're found everywhere from under the kitchen sink, allotment sheds, barns and old dairies - please don't throw them away!"
Those looking to get in touch with Steve ahead of his visit are asked to email milkbottlepast@hotmail.com or call 01684 569656.
