A NORTH Ayrshire based mental health charity are looking to expand their team and grow their reach.

Megan's Space has helped support more than 400 local young people since initially forming in 2019.

It was set up in memory of former St Matthew's Academy pupil Megan Copeland, a young woman from Irvine with a bright future and personality, loved by those around her, who made the tragic choice to take her own life.

Megan’s story is not unique and in 2019, in the aftermath of her tragic death, Megan’s Space was founded by her parents Jenny and Rob, with the aim of stopping the same thing happening to anyone else.

The charity has made a significant impact since then, offering counselling session for those looking to improve their mental wellbeing.

And now, some five years after forming, they are looking to do even more.

They will be hosting a volunteer recruitment event in Irvine on Saturday, June 15.

This will begin at 10am at St Mary's Church in the town, with all welcome to come along and find out how they may be able to help.

A charity spokesperson explained: "Megan's Space has now helped over 400 local young people with counselling for their mental wellbeing.

"We have been doing this through a small team of volunteers however we are now looking for more people to get involved in a wide range of ways to help grow and support the charity.

"If you have desire to help, a few spare hours a month, and either a skill or your cheery disposition or indeed both - we would love you to meet with you.

"This is a great opportunity to come along and find out more about volunteering with Megan's Space."
