In the 27 years of competing for the famous Robbie Pearson Memorial Trophy, Hunterston Rotarian Jim Jackson from West Kilbride has notched up his fifth win in this highly competitive annual event.

Eighteen Hunterston Rotary Club members and guest fought over the 18 hole competition held recently at the West Kilbride Golf Club.

And with a three under par score of 33, Jim narrowly edged Ardrossan’s Norrie Hunter into second place (35) – a runner-up for the second year in a row.

Presenting the trophy, event organiser Derek Andrews, a Hunterston Rotary Club past president and current event organiser, said: “The midsummer sun shone on a highly competitive field of putters on the night, providing a perfect setting for our popular annual putting competition.

“The Robbie Pearson Memorial Trophy was established in 1997 following the untimely death of our West Kilbride Rotarian colleague and former club president and it remains an important fixture in the Rotary Club of Hunterston’s social calendar.”
