A 'COMMUNITY Shed' group in the Three Towns is hoping to attract new members by opening its doors at the weekend.
The Three Towns Community Shed group formed when the local Men's Shed and She Shed made the decision unite as a single group.
Part of the wider Community Shed organisation, the group looks to provide a space where locals can come together, relax and socialise.
With membership free, the groups have been widely welcomed by men and women in the Three Towns.
The two groups hold regular meetings, working on a range of activities from woodwork and 3D printing to arts and crafts.
And now the community shed is hoping to expand and reach a new demographic who may benefit.
The groups currently operate from different venues, with the She Shed working from Glasgow Street and the Men's Shed in a new, larger premises on Hill Street.
They plan to unite on Hill Street once work on the facilities there are completed, but even before that, they have big plans in place.
The Men's Shed is currently open three days a week, from 9am until 2pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
But on July 13 they will start a trial opening from 10am to 1pm on a Saturday - with the hope that people who are still in work, and are busy during the week, will be encouraged to come along and reap the benefits of being a Shed member.
A spokesperson said: "We have a total membership of around 60 people now, and taking on the premises at Hill Street has really helped us as we look to expand what we can do.
"Now, we are hoping that by opening on a Saturday we can get even more people to come down and give the Shed a try."
