This year marks the 50th anniversary of Ardrossan Castle becoming a protected ‘scheduled monument’.
And Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society (ACHS) are organising some special events this year to celebrate the occasion.
The first event consists of ACHS hosting a community archaeology dig with Rathmell Archaeology on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.
The castle will be open to visit on both days and there will be a few fun activities for kids too.
If you would like to volunteer to be part of the dig please get in touch through the society's Facebook page or email info@ardrossancastle.scot.
Alternatively, you can just pop along on any of the days to see a dig in action and what they find.
