YOUNGSTERS from a Saltcoats boxing club are recovering after a unique fundraising weekend.
While many may spend their weekends enjoying some time off after a long week, that was not the case for youths from the IMC Project on Springvale Street.
Instead they spent large parts of their Saturday and Sunday putting in an incredible effort to raise vital funds for the community boxing gym.
At 5pm on Saturday, July 6, several members - and a handful of people not attached to the club - began taking part in a sponsored sparring session.
This session would continue for the full 24 hours that followed, concluding at 5pm on Sunday, July 7.
Over the course of the fundraiser, a number of locals also came in to offer their support, including the local branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland.
While their efforts were exhausting, all 70 people who took part at various times enjoyed taking part - with some even picking up the sport for the first time.
Project founder Jim Montgomerie said: "All the boys and and girls had a great time and put in some shift.
"We lost count of the total amount of rounds that everyone did. We had over 70 youngsters taking part during the time.
"All our amateur boxers did a great job in showing the ones who haven’t boxed before what to do."
