A STEVENSTON youth football side say they have been "overwhelmed" by the support shown during their first season together.
Ardeer Thistle 2011 held their first training session a little over a year ago ahead of beginning their campaign in the North Ayrshire Soccer Association (NASA) league.
That season recently drew to a close, with the club holding an end of season presentation to mark the occasion - as well as recognise the success of the players, coaches and other volunteers within the club.
Amongst the various accolades handed out on the night was a memorial shield dedicated to the late George Grayston - whose grandson plays with the team.
'Geordie' died exactly a year prior to the club's presentation night and the shield was handed out to represent all of the youth work he had carried out over the years.
The shield was awarded to club head coach Bobby Curlett and was presented by George's wife Wendy.
Following the awards, a club spokesperson said: "We have developed an amazing team and at presentation evening we were overwhelmed with the support from our families, supporters and sponsors of the team.
"We had a great evening of celebrations with piper, DJ, awards and buffet.
"We can't wait to start pre season in preparation for season 2024-2025."
