A WOMAN has been charged with attempted murder after an incident in Ardrossan, police have confirmed.

Officers were called to reports of a woman having fallen from a flat window on Glasgow Street shortly before 10am on Thursday, July 11.

The injured woman, aged 49, was seriously injured and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment - where her condition is described as stable.

A 41-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder.

Fiona Taylor appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, July 12, where she no plea to a charge of assault to sever injury, permanent disfigurement, danger to life and attempted murder.

Ms Taylor, described as an Ardrossan resident, has been committed for further examination and remanded in custody. She is due to return to court at a later date.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information on the incident to come forward, as they look to establish the full circumstances surrounding the matter.

Detective Constable Steven Kerr said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding how the victim came to be injured.

"It is vital that any members of the public with information which could assist our investigation come forward.

“We are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area of Glasgow Street around the time of the incident and may have witnessed what happened.

“We are also asking motorists with dashcams who were passing through between 9.30am and 10am on Thursday to please review their footage in case they have captured anything of significance."
