A MUCH loved Stevenston shop is set to close after decades serving the community.
Duff's Newsagents and Tobacconists is set to close at the end of August, with owner Billy Duff set to retire.
The store has been a mainstay on Glencairn Street for a number of years ,and Billy shared an emotional message on social media after announcing he would be stepping aside as of August 31.
He said: "To my dear customers, I just wanted to thank you for your custom over many years in our family run business.
"I have truly enjoyed being part of your lives and hold dear your support and friendship.
"I am hoping to see you all personally soon to let you all know how much you have meant to me and my family.
"All the very best wishes to you all for the future."
Many were quick to thank the shop owner after he made the announcement, with the newsagents playing a major part in their daily routine.
Duff's is always one of the first shops to open its doors in the morning, even opening during holidays such as Christmas and New Year.
One local said: "Thanks for all the years of service Billy. Always met with a smile. You will be missed - enjoy your retirement, well deserved."
Another added: "Thanks Billy, your shop has been reliable for many years to the early risers that needed that extra roll or milk. We will miss you bud."
