A NEW, free pet health clinic is set to be trialled in North Ayrshire.
The Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) will be offering the clinic at the North Ayrshire Foodbank later this week.
The event will be taking place within the food bank's base at the Church of the Nazarene, on Glasgow Street in Ardrossan, from 1.30-3.30pm on Friday, July 19.
The SSPCA will be operating a drop in session for owners to bring along their pets for a health check.
Pet owners do not need to book an appointment to attend, though those looking to head along are asked to note that the number of pets the team can see during the two hours will depend on the health of each animal brought along.
A North Ayrshire Foodbank spokesperson explained: "The SSPCA will provide clinical examinations and advice, weigh patients, and depending on the condition diagnose ailments, with the possibility of treatment being provided at the time.
"The two veterinarians will be able to examine cats, dogs and small furries like hamsters and rabbits. As a mobile service it is limited to basic procedures
"Like all vet practices owners need to keep proper control of their pets with smaller animals in carriers or cages to keep them safe and unable to escape."
The project is initially beginning on a trial basis and it is hoped that, if a success, it will continue on a monthly basis thereafter.
