Police have revealed investigations are continuing into an attack on board a Stagecoach bus in Ardrossan.

And they confirmed that the man assaulted on board the vehicle did not require hospital treatment.

The incident took place around 1.45pm on Wednesday, July 17, with the Stagecoach 585 bus coming to a halt in South Crescent Road, near the Lauriston Hotel.

Emergency service vehicles were quickly at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.45pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, we were called to a report of a man being assaulted on board a bus near to South Crescent Road, Ardrossan.“

"Emergency services attended and the victim was checked over by paramedics but did not attend hospital.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”

Images showed at least four police vehicles and a number of officers around the bus.

Yesterday, a spokesperson for Stagecoach West Scotland said: "We can confirm there was an incident on board our 585 service in Ardrossan.

"We're working with Police Scotland to establish further details of the incident."
