British Transport Police have urged witnesses to come forward following an incident of threatening and abusive behaviour towards a lone female passenger on a train from Largs to Kilwinning.

It involved a man pointing his phone at a woman on the train while his hand was down his trousers.

The alarming incident took place around 1.30pm on July 1, minutes after the train had left Saltcoats Station.

In a statement, BTP said: "Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an incident of threatening and abusive behaviour towards a lone woman passenger on board a train from Largs to Glasgow.

"At around 1.30pm on 1 July on the 1.25pm train from Saltcoats to Kilwinning, a man had his phone pointed at a woman on the train while his hand was down his trousers.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 331 of 1 July 2024.
