This week, we take a look back at the Herald's big stories and photos from July 2004.
Who can you spot in these pics from 20 years ago this week?
The 2004 Longbar Gala Queen, Toni Apps, 13, is pictured with her Princess, seven-year-old Carron Crawford and pageboy Alex Baker, aged five, ready for the gala day on the following Saturday.
Kilwinning man Mikey Hughes – who would later go on to star in Big Brother – celebrated completing his Master of Philosophy degree, despite losing his sight half way through the course.
Pictured planning the bottle stall and soaking up the sun at the West Kilbride Bowling Club’s summer fete were President Billy Houston and bottle collector Alan McKinnie.
Local recruits from a Three Towns stress relief group held a successful social night in the Healthy Living office in Hamilton Street, Saltcoats in 2004.
Keen West Kilbride angler Gordon Wright would remember his summer holiday in Norway for a long time - after landing a 50lb fish. He is pictured with brother-in-law Gisle Hunstad and the saithe he caught in the northern seas.
Stevenston’s big gala celebration in July 2004 was hit by some atrocious weather. But that didn’t stop the fun, with local youngsters donning period costumes on tribute to Sammy Neuk’s Fayre, a festival held in the town in the 18th and 19th centuries.
