Kilwinning's Picnic in the Park this week has been postponed because of forecasts of showers and heavy rain on the day of the event.
And the organisers are now planning a scaled back event at McGavin Park in September, with details to be revealed later.
The free Picnic in the Park has been a massive success in the town in recent years.
This year's event had been due to take place on Thursday, August 8.
But with heavy rain expected to fall in the area on the afternoon of the event, the organisers have opted, temporarily at least, to pull the plug.
But Councillor Donald Reid, of Kilwinning Community Events, said: "Picnic in the Park is being postponed due to the forecast over the next few days but especially on Thursday when all forecasts are showers or heavy rain.
"Everyone’s safety is the group's first priority.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this postponement might cause.
"We will be in touch with everyone individually but we are looking at a scaled back event on Monday, September 23 with the similar arrangements to be confirmed."
